Her hometown of Plymouth, Montserrat is now part of what is known as the "Buried City". In 1995, the Soufriere Hills Volcano on Montserrat erupted, destroying the island's capital city of Plymouth and causing the capital to be declared an exclusion zone. Dionne Copland is the Writer and Director of the award-winning short films Inferno and Haxx Deadroom, and the feature film Cold Wind Blowing. Dionne's first student film, Inferno, screened around the world at over twenty film festivals and earned awards for "Best Short Film" and "Best Filmmaker." In 2016, Dionne co-founded her production company/home video label CyberCraft Video, through which she has produced and distributed her own films as well as works by other emerging queer filmmakers. In May 2017 she received her Bachelors Degree with a Major in Film Production and Minor in Film Studies and in December of that year she wrote and directed her feature-length debut Cold Wind Blowing. Deionne hails from Atlanta, Georgia. It was in Atlanta where she impressed local casting director Shay Griffin so much she signed on to manage her. Deidee won a substantial role in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) but her scenes were deleted. She moved to Los Angeles and with Shay Griffin's help quickly landed an agent.
